"He was one of the best Math teachers I ever had. Jonathan was always eager to help his students and willing to go out of his way to help us if we [didn't] understand the material. I liked that [he] seemed to be very down to earth and approachable. He also never discouraged anyone who could not solve a problem. Very enthusiastic about subject matter, made class interesting by relating concepts to the real world and including humor in his lectures. He puts math in English terms and explains very well. More than anything, he cared about [students] understanding of the concepts rather than arriving at the answer which is very helpful for students further pursuing math. This was possibly the only class that I feel like I actually learned anything this semester." - Former ASU Student
"He's a great professor. Really nice and approachable for help. Also really knows what he's talking about and is good at explaining things. Take if you're bad at math! He'll show you that you're not." - Former UNCA Student
"For most of my life, I learned math by memorizing equations and procedures. And even though I did not understand what the math concepts actually meant, somehow I still found a way to pass the exam. Nevertheless, I was still always afraid of math. But when I learned with Jonathan, I realized that if I could have learned with him in my early years, I would not have had this tremendous anxiety that I felt every time before a math class started. He explains math terms, and logic behind them, in a down to earth manner, which made me feel less afraid and less intimidated by the math. My whole high school year, I was convinced that I am dumb when it comes to math. My biggest take away from doing math with him is I no longer feel like I am stupid. Now I am 31 years old, and of all my school years from primary school to undergraduate, he is only the second teacher that I will remember. Jonathan is kind and encouraging, and at the same time, he gives his all when working with you. I learned not only about math from him, but also from his humble and honest character." - Ei K.
